We're pals with the Portland-via-New York neo-soul outfit Excellent Gentlemen. Not too long ago, they asked us to take a look at a simple package for a three-song treat they give out for free at their shows. (We recommend their music without qualification to all adults with a properly-functioning sense of humor.)

Front cover and disc

Why so much pink? Because these gentlemen are comfortable in their masculinity and boast a devoted following among the ladies. We took our cues from high-end sweets packaging. We didn't have the budget to dust off the copperplate, so the faux-Spencerian treatment was actually set from the keyboard; it's Alejandro Paul's superb Burgues Script.

In keeping with the bubblegum color scheme, we provided brief "statements" from each of the members as they might appear in Tiger Beat, if that magazine had been edited by Barry White.
